The Importance of Connection: Lifting Your Spirit

Wow… I honestly can’t even put into words the whirlwind of emotions I’ve experienced living on this planet in this time—especially this past week. Saying it’s been heavy doesn’t even scratch the surface. As someone who strives to live in love, light, and peace, it’s been a rough ride. My emotions have swung wildly, and so many of them have been far from the calm, loving, light-filled energy I aim for. I don’t have to tell you—you’ve been living it right here with me.

But then, in the midst of it all, there was a tiny glimmer. I went to dinner with my friend and her niece, and let me tell you: in times like these, you need to surround yourself with human sunshine. For two hours, we laughed, joked, and had so much fun. Those few hours were exactly what I needed to lighten my spirit and remember what truly matters.

My friend shared a story about something she had learned that week—a discovery that fascinated her—and told it with such passion and intensity. She’s been taking classes to refine her craft, and the energy she poured into her storytelling lifted me in ways I can’t fully describe. I felt like I had been in that classroom with her, soaking in every word. To be allowed into her bubble of light, even for a fleeting moment, was such a privilege. Honestly, I half expected her to hand me a diploma for “Professional Soul Recharging,” but I’ll take the laughter and inspiration instead.

And then there’s her niece. Oh my goodness—this young woman walked into that restaurant like a human sparkler. She was stepping into a new place, trying new things, diving headfirst into everything unfamiliar around her, and her energy practically bounced off the walls. I didn’t even have to try to read her excitement—it was magnetic. She brought her notebook to show me her ideas because I’m starting something new, and she wanted me to know how thrilled she’d be to participate. Passion, curiosity, creativity, color, energy, inspiration—this is exactly what the soul craves.

I feel incredibly lucky to have such wonderful people in my life. I forget sometimes, when I get bogged down in the monotony of responsibilities, how important it is to take time for loved ones, to do the things you love, and to share them with others. Being yourself—fully, unapologetically—isn’t just a nice idea; it’s a lifeline.

There is a vast world out there, and algorithms often toss things at us we were never meant to see. But we get to choose. Darkness exists, yes—but so does light. And the more we step into the sunshine, the more we notice it. Light attracts light. Being intentional about where we place our energy and who we allow into our lives isn’t just important—it’s essential. Don’t get lost in the dark. Seek out the light, soak it in, and maybe even grab a friend or two to laugh with while you’re at it.
