Unlocking My Past: How Inner Child Healing Transformed My Present
Recently, I took a deep dive into inner child healing with Sedona Soul Adventures, and it was a transformative experience. This process brought back childhood memories, along with emotions that had been blocked. The goal was to explore how my early experiences shaped the triggers and fears I face as an adult—things I never realized were connected.
As kids, we’re constantly taking in everything around us, and it shapes how we see the world and ourselves. Some of these experiences help us grow, while others can create emotional barriers we carry into adulthood. For example, I mentioned my fear of abandonment in my last post, but I didn’t fully understand where it came from until this healing journey. During the 3-day adventure one specific memory was uncovered: 3-year-old Courtney, lying in an isolation tent at Mott’s Children Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI.
I remembered my mom sitting beside me, reading stories to comfort me. But then there was a moment when she had to leave for the night. I was left alone in a strange place, surrounded by unfamiliar sounds and faces. I looked at everyone in the hospital through an isolation tent. Can you imagine how terrifying that must have been for 3 years old who had never spent a night away from home or been away from her parents. What I unearthed was the feeling of vulnerability that has stayed with me my whole life.
Throughout my journey I started to recognize my fear of abandonment as an adult. However, without the inner child work I would never have connected them to that moment. That’s the power of inner child healing—understanding how these early experiences shape us. By revisiting those memories with compassion, we can start breaking down the emotional walls we’ve built over time.
Everyone has experiences that shape who they are—little moments from our childhood that, at the time, didn’t seem like a big deal but ended up shaping how we feel about love, safety, and self-worth. Inner child healing helps us uncover those memories and understand how they’ve impacted us.
As we begin to care for our inner child, we allow ourselves to feel the emotions we might have buried for years. It’s a journey of self-discovery, a process of forgiving ourselves for the fears and insecurities that have held us back. By looking at our past, we can create a sense of safety and acceptance within, opening the door to growth and healing.
If you’re struggling with fears or triggers that seem rooted in childhood, I encourage you to explore inner child healing. Take some time to reflect on your past, revisit those memories, and allow yourself to feel what comes up. Through this exploration, you’ll start unlocking your true self and moving forward with more love, courage, and resilience.
Healing isn’t always a straight line, but each step we take toward embracing our inner child brings us closer to our soul’s purpose and consciousness. Let’s honor our past and nurture that child within, transforming our fears into strengths as we walk the path toward healing.
